I thought it was awesome. It starts out very slowly but stick with it. The only gripe so far is that I still don't konw who most of the characters are. I guess I was the same way with Band of Brothers though. It'll probably take watching it a few times to get everyone strait.

Dvr'd it as well. I was all set to watch at 9, then a bit before that a friend asked if I wanted to see The Green Zone. Said yes, then that friend didn't pick up his phone or call back till a minute after the movie was supposed to start.

"yeah come to southside, we aren't seeing the movie anymore."

Gee thanks. Tried watching The Pacific but fell asleep. Got about 20 minutes in, it was awesome. Can't believe the guy who was Chase Edmunds on 24 is in it. Will finish it soon. It really is like Band of Brothers, everything from the opening intro stuff and the awesome credits. Even has the "Part one" and that line.

I don't think Spartan has HBO anyway. Maybe one of his friends do.

Good stuff. But it seems they are going with a different angle this go round. Seems they foreshadowed empathy for the enemy.

Saw the first two episodes have to say im not feelin it. It doesnt have the acting, depth, or good writing that Band of Brothers had. The characters curly frizzy gel hair cuts are straight out of the 21st century and they dont look or sound like they are from the 40s

Its straight to action war cliches with little build up and tension and sympathy.

Im gonna keep watching but I really was let down big time

what night of the week does this air? I watched the first ep via torrent yesterday. friggin' awesome set up. just like Band of Brothers. they are gonna catch sure hell on Guadalcanal before this is all said and done. the Marines were essentially bombarded by a significant portion of the Japanese Navy all night long, each night for an extended period of time. during the day, the Allies were able to launch plane strikes with the Cactus Air Force out of the island. this show will be quite interesting.

in the show they explain that they were bombed in and our for days on end but the in the show it was like 5 minutes and thus didnt have the dramatic effect when they finally emerged after the bombing stopped.

It really isnt as well done as Band of Brothers although it appears on the outside to be almost the same

watched the second episode last night and I see what you mean. I guess they have to move the show quickly because there are many battles yet to be fought in the pacific theatre.

Is just lacks the dramatic and emotional side to things in favor of the explosions and death

Whereas Band of Brothers you go through boot camp with them and get to learn the characters (who seemed to be better actors), here its straight to the battle

Very average miniseries but ill keep watching as I love the history

I'm through three episodes of this. Definitely enjoying.

Only got to see the first two episodes of BOB, so I guess that helps?
